Robinson Nature Center Presentation

Thank you so much to the people who came out to hear my presentation on the Northern Snakehead: Fact vs Fiction!!! You were such a great audience. So many thoughtful questions and helpful comments. Some things to think about were:

1.  Asking for a night fishing permit to see if the snakehead fish are coming to the surface at night. 

2. Looking further into predatory birds in the area like hawks, eagles, and osprey and how they could become a predator of this invasive fish. 

3. How to reach a larger community in Howard Countu to educate citizens about this invasive species. 

4. Trying to push the authorities for a consensus of either: killing the fish when caught or being able to release it in the same body of water caught.

I spoke with an angler while fishing this morning confirming that the Ospreys are eating snakehead fish! He said about two weeks ago he saw an osprey fly down and pull out about an 8" cylindrical dark black/gray fish that was definitely not a trout. Looks like we have a predator!!
